Parent Visa
The Permanent Parent Visa allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently. It is available through two main pathways: Subclass 103, for parents applying from outside Australia, and Subclass 804, for aged parents applying while in Australia. This visa requires sponsorship by an eligible child, meeting the Balance of Family Test, and providing an Assurance of Support. Once granted, it offers full permanent residency with the right to live, work, study, and access Medicare in Australia.

This is a type of Australian visa that allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently.
Requirements
- Have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Meet all applicable visa conditions and follow Australian law
- Meet the balance of family test.
- Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
- Meet the health requirement.
- Meet the character requirement.
With this visa you can

- Work and study in Australia
- Enrol in Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare.
- Sponsor your family members to come to Australia
- Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
- Attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program, if eligible
- If eligible, apply for Australian citizenship.
Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)
This is a type of Australian visa that lets Aged parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens live in Australia permanently.
Requirements
- Have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
- Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.
- Meet the balance of family test.
- Meet the health requirement.
- Meet the character requirement.
With this visa you can
- Stay in Australia indefinitely
- Work and study in Australia
- Enrol in Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare

Sponsored Parent Temporary visa (subclass 870)
This is a temporary visa that allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to stay in Australia for an extended period without permanent residency.
Requirements
- Be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when we decide your application
- Be a remaining relative of an Australian citizen or Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen
- Have an eligible sponsor
- Meet the balance of family test.
- Meet the health requirement.
- Meet the character requirement.
With this visa you can
- Stay in Australia indefinitely
- Work and study in Australia
- Enrol in Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare.
- Sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
- Attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program, if eligible
- If eligible, apply for Australian citizenship.
Contributory Aged Parent Temporary visa(subclass 884)
This Temporary visa lets the Aged Parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay temporarily in Australia.

- Have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
- Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.
- Meet the balance of family test.
- Meet the character requirement.
- Meet the health requirement.
With this visa you can
- Live in Australia for up to 2 years
- Work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support)
- Apply for a permanent Contributory Aged Parent (subclass 864) visa.

Contributory Aged Parent Permanent visa (subclass 864)
This permanent visa lets Aged Parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens live in Australia. It offers faster processing but with higher costs, giving full rights to live, work, and access healthcare.

- Be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia.
- Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.

With this visa you can
- Live in Australia for up to 2 years
- Work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support)
- Apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143).
