How long you can stay

Skilled Work Regional Provisional visa(subclass 491)
A permanent visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored. It allows you to live and work anywhere in Australia and apply for permanent residency independently.

This visa allows skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government, or sponsored by an eligible relative, to live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for up to 5 years, with a pathway to permanent residency.

- Have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list.
- Meet the skills requirement.

- Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.

- Satisfy the points test.
With this visa you can
- Stay in Australia for 5 years.
- Live, work and study in a designated regional area of Australia.
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want, while the visa is valid
- Apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time your visa is granted.

- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa – Subsequent entrant
This temporary visa allows eligible family members of a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa holder to join them and live, work, and study in designated regional areas of Australia.
Requirements
- Be a member of the family unit of a person who holds a subclass 491 visa on the basis of satisfying the primary criteria for the grant of that visa.
- Have this level of English language.
- Meet the health requirement.
- Meet the character requirement
- Satisfy the points test.
With this visa you can
- Work and study anywhere in Australia.
- Sponsor eligible family members for permanent residence.
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want, while the visa is valid.
Stay
Until the visa that your family member holds ends.
